[ARCHIVED] Pelham Police Department Now Accepting Applications

The City of Pelham is currently accepting applications and resumes for the full-time position of certified APOST police officer. You will help guide our citizens, business owners, and patrons and show them they will always have a police department committed to being ethically and morally responsible.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • U.S. Citizen.
  • Possess a high school diploma.
  • Accredited College/University degree is preferred.
  • Possession of valid Alabama driver’s license.
  • No felony or serious misdemeanor convictions.
  • Must be able to maintain authority to carry pistol or firearm used by police officers.
  • Good character and integrity are expected due authority to use ACJIC and NCIC. 

BENEFITS

  • Blue Cross/Blue Shield: Health & Dental: Bi-weekly Coverage-$25.43 Single/$186.50 Family.
  • RSA State Retirement: Tier 1.
  • Pay Scale: $55,429.92-$75,413.52 (based on 2-year minimum experience and other related experience)
  • Twelve-hour shifts: Every other Friday, Saturday, and Sunday-off days.
  • Paid Leave: Vacation, Sick, Twelve (12) days of Holiday, One (1) day of Personal time.
  • Community Support and Involvement: Special Olympics and Explorer Program.
  • Specialty Units: Traffic Division, Evidence Technician, Emergency Services Unit, Bicycle Patrol.

                              

HIRING PROCESS

  • Download an application. Applications and resumes may be emailed to City of Pelham Human Resources, or mailed to City of Pelham-Human Resources Department, P. O. Box 1419, Pelham, AL 35124 no later than 5:00 p.m. on April 26, 2023. 
  • POST graduation number and overall academy scores, along with college/university grade point average MUST be submitted with application.
  • Satisfactorily complete written background packet followed by panel interview.
  • Ability to pass an extensive background investigation.
  • Successfully complete a polygraph examination.
  • If offered a conditional offer of employment, must pass a psychological assessment and pre-employment drug screen.
