Women Leading Government is a sister organization to the International City and County Management Association (ICMA), the most respected organization in the governmental management industry. The Alabama chapter WGL’s mission statement reads, “To encourage women to pursue careers in local and state government and thru networking and education, help prepare women for success in the unique local government communities across our state.”
Alabama is the 12th state to have a statewide organization of WLG. Arizona, California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Massachusetts, Missouri, Ohio, South Carolina, Utah and Texas (Texas has four arranged by districts) all have chapters.
The “What Does It Take To Lead” Alabama Women Leading Government 2nd Annual Conference will be held at the Pelham Civic Complex on Tuesday, February 25 with registration and networking beginning at 8:15 am. The conference begins at 9:00 am, featuring Liz Huntley as the keynote speaker.
Tickets are available on Eventbrite and the conference is open to all non-elected females employed in local or state and are members of Women Leading Government.
WLG Membership is free and available to join when you register for the conference. WLG Membership is restricted to non-elected females employed in local or state government or a supporting industry (i.e. Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development, etc.).
