Pro Tennis Player in Action

The courts have been buzzing with world-class talent this week at the W50 Pelham Women’s Pro Classic, part of the ITF World Tennis Tour. As professional athletes from across the globe compete for a share of $40,000 in prize money and valuable tour points, the Pelham Racquet Club has become the local epicenter for top-tier tennis—and it's not over yet.

Tournament Recap: High-Level Action, Hometown Heart
The tournament kicked off with impressive qualifying rounds and continued into the main draw with standout performances from both seeded players and emerging talent:

  • Tara Moore (GBR), the tournament’s top seed, was upset early by Melisa Ercan (AUS) in a thrilling three-set comeback, 4-6, 6-2, 6-4.
  • Anita Sahdiieva (UKR) delivered one of the biggest surprises of the tournament by taking down No. 1 seed Elvina Kalieva (USA) in straight sets, 7-5, 6-3.
  • Local fans cheered on Ansley Cox (USA), who impressed in her opening round with a dominant performance before falling to Moore in the second round, 6-1, 6-4.
  • American standouts like Kayla Day, Madison Brengle, Robin Anderson, and Anna Rogers are continuing to advance, making for an exciting close to the week.

In doubles action, top seeds Brooks/Hule and the duo of Moore/Osborne advanced with solid wins, setting the stage for tight semifinal and final rounds.
