As a Street Maintenance Technician I, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and functionality of our city's roadways, sidewalks, and infrastructure. Representative List of Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The list is not intended to be all-inclusive nor exclusive but is intended to provide examples of typical duties performed.
- Receives written work orders or verbal instructions from Crew Supervisor.
- Cuts and trims trees, grass, and weeds on right-of-ways.
- Removes litter from City streets and medians.
- Repairs streets and sidewalks with asphalt, cold patching materials, and concrete.
- Removes and replaces damaged traffic signs.
- Operates lawn equipment.
- Responds to animal control calls and is responsible for catching pets and wildlife.
- Replaces worn or damaged parts, such as hoses, wiring, and belts, in machines and equipment.
- Assists with City holiday decoration set up and take down.
- Assists with demolitions and carpentry as needed.
- Establishes and maintain good work relationships.
Education/Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) plus one-month related experience and/or training.
Certificates and Licenses: A valid Alabama Driver’s License is required.
Compensation: Compensation for this position is $34,456.00 - $46,960.00, depending on experience, education, and other training. The City of Pelham offers an excellent benefits package.
