Specialty Classes
The U.S. Figure Skating Aspire Program offers skaters on-ice technique classes, off-ice training, and parent education. The Pelham Aspire Academy Aspire Program is for skaters Basic 5 and up. Skaters will be divided into groups based on skill level. This safe, supportive group training environment keeps costs down and motivation high as skaters acquire new skills, develop good practice habits, and learn the fundamentals of training alongside their peers. It builds a solid foundation in figure skating through the development of athleticism and artistry, empowering skaters to be successful on and off the ice. Skaters who enter the program during a session will have their classes pro-rated. Classes will be divided into high and low levels. Skaters will receive 40 minutes of off-ice training and one hour of on-ice training.

The intro class will cover all the preliminary ice dances, Canasta Tango, Dutch Waltz, and Rhythm Blues and is open to skaters who have passed pre-pre moves and those working on pre-pre moves at the discretion of their coach. The advanced ice dance class will be for skaters who have passed the preliminary ice dances and are working on higher-level dances, and this class will help build ice dance skills for those skaters interested in the solo ice dance competition/test track. The Icemen Program attracts and retains male figure skaters by building a supportive community inclusive of athletes, parents, officials, and fans of figure skating. The Icemen Program is committed to changing the narrative as figure skating is for everyone. Created in 2012, the U.S. Figure Skating Icemen Program is focused on unifying the male members of U.S. Figure Skating. The program creates lasting friendships and camaraderie by providing opportunities throughout the year to connect with peers and role models, including Icemen events during competitions and camps. The program, only open to male members, was developed by U.S. Figure Skating's Program Development Committee to give this group of skaters a sense of peer support and networking opportunities, while also encouraging them to continue their involvement in figure skating. The Pelham Skate School Icemen will meet on Tuesday nights from 5 to 7 pm. They will warm up off-ice, get skates on together, and then train together on ice from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. After the on-ice training the Icemen will do more off-ice training, and have education sessions where they will learn about the importance of nutrition, goal setting, competition readiness, healthy lifestyle choices, event recovery, and more! Parents should participate in the education sessions and additional parent education sessions that will be offered concurrently with the Aspire program skaters while our skaters are doing off-ice training.

Open Juvenile Synchro Team
Synchronized skating is a popular discipline both within U.S. Figure Skating and around the world. Synchronized skating is a team sport in which 8 to 20 skaters perform a program together. It uses the same judging system as singles, pairs, and dance and is characterized by teamwork, speed, intricate formations, and challenging step sequences.
There are so many benefits to participating in a team sport, and synchronized skating is a great way for figure skaters to compete in a sport they love while enjoying all of the aspects of working with others in a team-oriented sport.
