What to Wear
Children need gloves or mittens. Sweat suits are recommended, or any long pants, as long as they are not confining. As rink temperatures vary, dressing in layers is a good idea. Socks should be thin rather than thick.
Private Lessons
Private lessons may be arranged as a supplement to classes after advancing to Basic Skills Level 6. Private lessons are taught on FreeStyle ice only. This ice time may be purchased at the skate school office.
FreeStyle Session: A unit is a 30-minute freestyle session, minimum of 2 units.
- $4/unit for 20 or more units
- $80 for 20 units
- $10 Walk-on
- $7 to $10 skate sharpening
Skaters purchase units on the FreeStyle Unit Card. Each unit skated is punched on the card. The card is maintained in the skate school office. A copy of the card is given to the skater in order that they may keep up with the units skated. Make-ups are not necessary.
Professional Staff
The Skating School Staff provides a highly qualified coaching staff under the direction of Danny Tate, Skate School Director. All coaches on staff are members of the United States Figure Skating (USFS), the governing body for figure skating in the United States, Professional Skaters Association (PSA), the international organization of teaching and performing professionals or the Ice Skating Institute (ISI), an international organization for the recreational skater. As students progress through the Basic Skills levels, badges may be purchased at the skate school office. These badges indicate each level of achievement.
